Back on track

Well, I'm still trying to get back on track, but things are going good so far.

Brant and I are still going strong after 1 week 1/2 of marriage. Still isn't a "big" change for us, but we love it! We got all of our wedding pictures in. Love them all. We have a lot to choose from, being we had LOTS of cameras there ;). Plus, I love pictures, so you can't expect anything less from me.

Brant and I our currently looking for houses. We're taking our time and trying not to get in a big rush. We did look at one (unknowingly) yesterday and we love it. It's an older home, but a huge lot, large square foot and lots of extras....Wanna know the secret - ITS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO MY PARENTS!!!!! haha - yes, crazy but true!!! We'll have to see how this one will end. of course, I'll post pics if we actually end up buying it.

I know we're all looking forward to Thanksgiving. Brant and I will continue our journey from one home to the next....It is always fun, but tiring!

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving and I'll be talking to you soon :)

THE HICKERSON'S

Well, It's finally here - we're the Hickerson's. I can't beleive how fast the year went. It literally came and past in the flash of my eyes. What in the world am I going to do now?!?! :) I'm sure I can find something to get into!

Jenn and I are probably going to start taking photography class and start our own business. This has been a dream of mine for a Long time! I hope we're succesful at it.

I had to share some picstures from Sarah Shalley - she's is a FANTASTIC photograper, and we can't wait to see the rest of her pictures. I would recommend her 100 times over again to anyone! see her blog: www.sarahshalley.blogspot.com

Now that the wedding is over, I'm sure to blog daily! :)

Yes, I'm alive!

WOW! I must be a busy lady ;).
That I HAVE! Things have been crazy, as you can imagine with 24 days to go. Last weekend was super crazy. We put together our programs and favor boxes. That is definitely hard work especially the programs.

I don't have pictures right now to share, but I will soon - promise!

I really don't have anything exciting to report. Just been busy with wedding things, getting RSVP cards daily, and trying to relax and watch all my favorite Fall shows. That I can say I've been making time for.

Hope you are well!
Have a great week!
xoxo

Just catching up

I definitely have not been keeping tack of my blogs. In fact it's almost been 10 days! :) I thought it was worse!

Well invitations have gone out. Already have about 90 response cards received! That's nice for 2 weeks! Last week we worked on programs...still have about 100 to go :-/ DIY is sometimes not the way to go, but it has been super fun!

We did get to go hunting, but there is nothing flying, so I haven't even shot the gun. I really do not have anything to report on. As you know my life is just getting ready for this wedding and nothing SUPER exciting has happened :-/. I don't even have pictures to share. I'll take a look and if I do of course I'll add them!

Take care for now...

INVITATIONS are OUT......

Yep, the invitations were mailed Saturday!!! WOWeeeee....

Can you believe it! Just the other day it felt like I was counting down from 364...not we're down to 46...holy moly! ;)

Nothing exciting has been going on..by exciting i mean non wedding related. Went Dove hunting Sunday, spent all day with my mom saturday and Sunday. I did get a few halloween stuff to decorate the out side of our house :) hehe!

Everything is coming together rather nicely. Sometimes I get a little hit of nervousness, but nothing HUGE yet! I'll let you know the week of or after.

Well, have a fabulour week - until then

a little behind...

I am SOOOO behind on my blogs! I won't write a long one I'll just sum it up ion a net shell ;).

First, Dove season started - woo hoo
Aggie Football started - Whoop!
Had my last shower - woo hoo! (pictures below)
Been super busy with work and wedding planning.

The first weekend of Dove season was ok...I was sick the entire weekend, but I still went hunting Saturday. We only saw about 12 dove flying and only got one, so it wasn't too exciting! We're going again this Sunday.

We went to the 2:30pm aggie game last weekend - had to leave at half time b/c we were literally gonna die out there in the sun. We had only a few 2 minute shade periods and it was miserable. The game was AWESOME, but we had to finish it on TV - oh well!!

Sunday was my first Bridal shower, but my last shower until the wedding! It is a relief, b/c now I can concentrate on all the things I have to get done. It was a really nice/fun shower! I think everyone had a good time. I got to see people I hadn't seen in years, so that was good!!

You should see my house now!!!!! a complete MESS! My living room is FULL of every gift we've received so far. Our computer room is filled with wedding stuff that has to stay there until the wedding. And in our bedroom is every single Wedding/House party gift! It's craziness, but ya know I'm not sure what I'm going to do after this is all over. Let me know if you want me to plan your wedding ;).

I love weekends

Usually the weekends that aren't busy, but this weekend was fun.

We had our tool shower Saturday. That was a lot of fun. Brant was able to hang with an old buddy and his brother. I got to hang with my second family :). It was a good time. The hostesses were wonderful and everything was beautiful and delicious. Of course, after the party was over we went to my moms and opened gifts. This time it was just Brant, my parents and me. Still fun! We got all kinds of good stuff. Brant got some really neat tools, as did I ;). Our 2 favorite gifts is the combo tool kit - for Brant and the BBQ grill for both of us :). We'll see who uses it most ;).

As always I have some pictures attached!

Hope you had a great weekend

Dove Season

Let the countdow begin:

Yep, that's right...It's almost Dove Season :). My favorite season! Since it lands on a Saturday, you better believe I'll be out there shooting the dove :). It's always a good relaxing time. I get to hang with Brant, my dad, grand dad's, sometimes Uncle, and Jenn. We usually go out to the White House pature - which is accross from Brant's parent's house.

I even changed the date to pick up my wedding dress to go hunt :). hehe!

Here's some pictures from last years hunt. Enjoy!

PS: You'll only notice pictures and me and Jenn...this is b/c my dad HATES when i'm on my phone or have a camera while he's there hunting :) haha!

What a week...

What a week it’s been!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was gone Wednesday thru Thursday doing my civic duties and being on a murder jury…yes…horrible I know. It was my first and it was graphic. The first night I had nightmares the second night was a lot better – don’t think I thought about it at all. I have to admit it was an experience, but I wouldn’t want anyone to go through that. We saw EVERYTHING, heard EVERYTHING even the defendant testify. It just wasn’t pleasant. Not only that but we had to decide on his life…it was easy, but hard – if that makes since. All I can say is, I’m glad it’s over!!!!

I am ready to go back to work on Monday…It was a bad week for me to be out, but I know it’ll be ok.

Today was another relaxation weekend for me. My mom and I went to get pedicures – that was relaxing and fun! We got to see a setup of a wedding reception at Briarcrest, that was neat. After all that I came home and watch The Ultimate gift. Oh my goodness – good movie, but it’s a tear jerker!

Now, I’m sitting here writing in my blog. I’m sad I don’t have any pictures, but hopefully I’ll have some soon.

Hope everyone is having a good summer!

I'm Pooped!

Well, what a weekend and day it was for me!

The weekend was fast, of course! HOWEVER, we did NOTHING. My moms computer was not working we Brant and I were trying to fix it. Well, it was getting worse but we were due to have dinner at Brant’s parents house. That was a really fun night. We were there until 10pm. We just all sat, talked, laughed and enjoyed our self.
Sunday, we were back to my parents – there from 8am to 9pm. Her hard drive was crashing, so she wasn’t happy. My mom and I just watched movies to take her mind off things. Watch Breach – that was really good! As well as Fracture and Oceans 13 - - all good movies : ).

That was literally our weekend.

TODAY on the other hand I was summoned to jury duty. I was there from 9am to 6pm….whoa what a day…and guess what? All I can say right now is I’m a juror! FIRST ever! I’ll be able to talk about that experience when it’s over.
I am super tired after a long day of pretty much sitting! I don’t have anything fun and exciting to report. Maybe soon!!

PS: I miss Jenn - she's been in Canada for a week now... :) Here's her walking on water...too bad I can take the pics.

YAY for Fridays!

It's Friday! YAY! I can't believe it is, but I'm happy it is!
Not much has been going on in our world lately. Just working and being at home. I finally got some pictures to hang on my wall. I have a picture, but they aren't up yet - waiting on the handy man ;).

My mom is out of town so I went to see Aggie and Sarge yesterday. If you know those pups and my mom you would know that they are MISERABLE with her being gone; however, they were super excited to see sissy yesterday.

We don't have "to do" this weekend. We're actually having a family dinner at the Hickerson's Saturday...that's me, Brant, my parents and his....I think it'll be fun! I'll have to let you know how it goes.

I have been called for my first jury duty Monday. Hopefully when I call Sunday they'll say "this has been taking care of out side of the courts, you do not need to attend ;)" I wish..haha! I'll definitely let you know how that goes!

Well, not much to say. Hope you are enjoying the blogs. Talk to you soon.
JAE with a smile :)

Typical Tuesday

Monday passed right on by and today has been a drag.

We have a new lady in the office, her name is Jenny and she is a doll! She's very outgoing and she's going to be great in this office. We hit it off the day she came to interview. Any ways, I was able to talk and visit with her this morning. She likes to shoot guns and arrows :) woo hoo! Her husband is a jeepster like my dad, so I thought all of this was really neat.

Brant and I had lunch together. We just ate and watched days of our lives. He likes to watch my soap opera, but I bet he wouldn't admit that to you :).

Got to talk to Jenn today...well I have been since she's been gone. She's already ready to come home - imagine that :)haha! Seems like they've watched movies, she's shown them all her people from back home and they went to a bar that had a Mexican band. Apparently Canadians never hear Mexican bands, so it was interesting :).

I really don't have much going on right now. My weeks are usually quite. Just work, come home, watch TV and sometimes work on wedding stuff.

Hope you are having a great week.
Ttys.

Saturday's are going to be busy the next 3 months

Well, I woke up about 8, relaxed a little then headed to my mom. We had a meeting with the florist. It was fun – but GEEZE how expensive that bill is going to be :-/, but I think we will be very happy with everything. After being there almost 2 hours we headed to TjMaxx to get vases for the candy buffet – that was fun for us : ). Next door to TJMaxx is an alteration place, so we took my dress to get have the bustle added and the veil fixed. Can’t wait to get them back. After that was done we headed to Hobby Lobby got a few things grabbed a bite then headed back to my moms house. By now it was 3 in the afternoon. My mom wanted to take a nap, so I went home and watched Disturbia. Very good intense movie.

6pm headed back to my parents and we all started stuffing those envelopes. WooooHoooo they are DONE! Addressed, stuffed and almost ready to be mailed. 475 invitations is TOOOO MANY if you ask me : ). After another long day I came home, laid in bed and watched 88 Minutes. That’s another good movie! : )

Friday, August 3, 2007

woo hoo it's Friday!

Luckily for me I didn’t have to get up until 7:30 b/c I had an SECC meeting at the Student Rec Center. Well, it so happened to be Fish camp day and some sort of Cheer leading day. That side of campus was packed. I walk into the Rec and all you can hear is little girls cheering. It was fun to see. I wasn’t there for the fun though, I had an SECC meeting. After that was over I headed to the office then the next thing I know it’s lunch and half my day is over. Gotta love that!

My parents and I wanted to go see the Bourne Ultimative, but poor Brant was working late and was really tired so he said for us to just go and we did! First we stopped and ate freebirds. We were sitting by the window b/c my mom was cold and the sun was shining through. At that store they have a black screen to keep the sun out, but you can still kinda see out of it. I just so happened to glance out and I see a familiar car – it was Jenn! She was parked right in front of the window, so I do something funny through the window and she sees me. So we got to see her and Blanton, I was glad cause I got to say good bye again before she left.

Off to the movie we went – I liked it. My parents did like it, but they didn’t like how the cameras worked. They were all over the place, so sometimes you were dizzy. It was a good night.

Thursday's are BIG BROTHER days

I won’t let any sinus or allergies mess with Big Brother – hehe! You know how I love Thursday’s b/c I get off work early too, so that was a plus. Lunch came and I met Jenn for lunch b/c she’s leaving for Canada Saturday. Work flew by and I left at 4:30, came home and saw another box at my door. This time it was our sparklers for our departure when we leave the wedding. Fun Fun!

I got dressed and headed to my parents to play with the puppies and I somehow got my parents to help me stuff those envelopes. We had an assembly line going and we were having a good time with that : ). I put all of the stuff together, my mom had the inner envelopes and my dad was stuffing into the outer envelope. As he was stuffing he would read that name and I would say “I don’t know them” or “that’s a mama” - - it was really fun doing that. Made it go by quick. Now all we have left is the groom’s envelopes. Then I headed home to watch BB, which was really good by the way…Hope I’m getting you hooked on the show ;).

Wednesday Blues

Started off rather nice, went to work – did a lot of that! Well, at lunch Brant and I were watching my soap – Days of our lives – ok I was!! But, the door bell rang - we had a box…. It was a wedding gift. A set of our precious china by Lenox. It was soooo pretty. Too bad it’s just sitting in a box right now. So, that led for a good rest of the day. Until I started to not feel good, my sinuses were messed up and I just wanted to go home. I didn’t – I stuck the day out. When I got home I took some meds watched a little TV and was asleep by 9pm. That’s usually not like me. Any ways, that was really all of my Wednesday.

WOW! Can you believe that! It feels so weird b/c I'm the Mrs.!!!

PS: I am getting butterflies...I mean look at that countdown...

Another weekend has come and gone… and whew what a weekend it was.
Friday was an ok time. Went to eat with the parents, then started printing those envelopes!! That was all we did on Friday, nothing exciting.

Saturday got up about 8 and headed over to the parents house. I was there form 8am to 8pm printing envelopes. YES 16 hours. There were some breaks and some of that time was stuffing envelopes, so it wasn’t to bad. By the time I got home I was tired, so I started watching Evan Almighty, but I fell asleep; however, I did finish it Sunday.

Sunday was a relaxing day for everyone, well the girls at least. We went and ate with the Cooke’s it was yummy and a good time! After that I came home cleaned, watched Evan Almighty and Lifetime. The boys went out to the lake to test the jet skis, so they were gone most of the day.

Of course, as always I watched Big Brother then got ready for bed. Doesn’t sound too exciting, but it was a full weekend for sure! I know they are going to be like this for the next 13 weekends.

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I’m attached some pictures I took of our bands and invitations…

Arrrgg...(just like Captain Jack) :)

Arrrgg....I hate mail merges

Sooo..last night was the night we started printing envelopes. I went over to my moms at 4:30 and didn't leave until 8. 3 and 1/2 hours later what have we accomplished?: ONLY printing 240 inner envelopes JUST from the brides side. What in the world is that about? Well, luckily I said lets double check to make sure everyone is on here and correct. Well, we realized we didn't have guest on a few, so we went back thru to make sure those were added. Finally we were going to start printing - HA! After already test printing numerous amounts of time it wasn't correct!!!

So, I had to go in by hand and move each one so it was correct! That was a mess. About 6:30 I was finally able to start printing. 245 inner envelopes later we were DONE!

Well, not completely done - we still have hundreds more to go, but at least we are starting. As you can see this is what our weekend will be like.

At least there will be one good time this weekend - we're having a family lunch with the Cooke's (Amy and her family) after church on Sunday. I'm super excited about this, b/c we've been planning it since LAST year!

Amongst the printing last night I DID watch Big Brother :). It was pretty good, although I was shocked to see who got voted out.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend. Be safe, I hear there's more rain coming.

always,
jae

I love Thursday's....

I love Thursday's....

Why? I guess because I get to leave work early (at 4:30). Yes, it's only 30 minutes, but geeze 30 minutes is a lot for me. It's 30 minutes I don't have to sit in my NEW office, with a window. And it's BIG BROTHER night!

Speaking of the new office. I've never knew people would make such a big deal. I mean it's an office. I'm doing the same thing, just in my own office. There was a guy that came to see one of my bosses who's next door to me and as he was going in he stops and makes this weird face b/c he saw me in here. haha - I laughed. I guess it is a big deal. I love my new office, but it's BARE! I need some more pictures and paintings. I will have them soon, I hope. We are really starting to feel the "pressure" and a little over whelmed with the wedding. We still have so much to do, and it shocks me b/c I feel like I've done a lot!! I'm about to have lunch with my "old" supervisor, whom I miss working with a lot! I'm going to add some pictures of my bare office and later some wedding items we've been working on....

Hope you are enjoying my blogs ;).

My Wedding Party....

For all the Family/Friends who will be reading my blogs, I would like to take the time to introduce our Wedding Party and thank each one of them for the love and support they have given us and about to give!

Jae’s attendants:
Jennifer Wilks: Maid of Honor: Best Friend and partner in crime: If you were to meet Jenn you probably wouldn’t understand her. She’s hard to get a long with, but in all realness she’s a wonderful friend. Maybe I’m the only one who can actually understand her. Who knows, but she’s been there for me thru thick and thin and I know will continue to be there for me/us. I’m sure if you’ve seen any of my pictures you would see we’re always having a good time and just being us! Jenn, thank you for all the love, advice, support, ear listening, friendship and everything in between that you’ve given me. You always know when to make me smile/laugh and always know when I’m upset. Thank you Beamers I love you!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Amy Cooke: Maid of Honor: Childhood Best Friend: Amy has been an inspiration to me since we were in the 5th grade. Amy has been there for me thru everything, well pretty much everything. Even though we had a few years in between our closeness, we did find each other again and I’m so glad we did. Amy and I don’t necessarily have to see or talk to each other every day to know we love each other – it’s just there. She is and will always be my sunshine! Her family has been my 2nd family for as long as I know. They are wonderful people and have been there for me through a lot! Amy, Thank you for your love, support, caring, and faith. Without you I’m not sure where I would. I love you forever!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Kelley Leeanne McDonald: Matron of Honor: Cousin and Best Friend. We grew up together, so we’ve been through a lot. It’s weird because I know we were really close when we were younger, but while we were growing up & maturing she was so far it was hard for us to see and talk to each other. It wasn’t like it is today where we can pick up the cell phone and call, or IM, or email. Thank goodness she came back to live in Texas a few years ago. That was our “time” that brought us back together. You never know what emptiness you had until someone was out of your life then suddenly appears again. It’s great and boy am I glad we’re close again. I was her Maid of Honor this past May, as you may have read. It was a wonderful time and I am so thankful to have been a part of it. Leeanne, you are an amazing cousin and friend. Thank you for your never ending love and support. I hope we go through with that “contract” you have and live next door to each other so our kids can grow up together like we did. Hehe. Love you always!!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Kristen Jarrott: Bridesmaid: Sister: We didn’t necessarily grow up together like regular sisters do, but we’re still close. Kristen is my half sister, we’re 6 years apart, so there is a little gap in there. I remember when Kristen was little and we would come out to visit our Nanny or Liz/Billy. I would usually bring a friend (Kristy, Amy, Lindsey, Leigh, or Kristel) and my goodness we were so bad and mean. I never knew we could be so mean. Not extremely mean, but all Kristen wanted to do was be like us and do everything we were doing. Of course, as “older” girls we hated that, so we would be mean. I hope my kids aren’t like that, b/c I can only imagine how it feels…sorry Kristen if you remember  hehe! Kristen has become a very mature young lady who still has her entire life a head of her. Kristen, thank you for putting up with me and my friends as we taunted you. You are truly an amazing sister and couldn’t ask for a better one. Love you!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Stephanie Blackwell: Bridesmaid: Brant’s cousin: I don’t know if we hit it off right off the bat, I think we did because they always tell me how happy they are to have me in Brant’s life. But, I do know Stephanie has been a great friend to me and cousin to Brant. I know growing up Brant and his cousins didn’t always get along b/c he was the “bad child”, but now they see someone they probably never thought they would see. Stephanie was always there if I needed to talk to her about Brant, life, or anything at that matter. She’s very honest and open – which I love! She’ll tell you like it is – hehe! Stephanie – you have always been so open and honest with me and I thank you so much for that. I only hope as we grow older I can do the same. I hope we continue to be as close as we are now (everyone at that matter), since we will eventually be in the same spot the parents are now. I can’t wait to be your cousin-in-law ;). Thank you for your ears when I needed someone to talk to, it’s greatly appreciated! Love you!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Courtney Epstein: Bridesmaid: Brant’s cousin, Stephanie’s sister: A little different than Stephanie, they would probably say Courtney is the super sweet one. Which she is! I know growing up with Brant had to be hard ;). Somehow you and everyone made it through. Just like Stephanie, she is always open and willing to talk to me. I’ve never seen her upset, she’s always smiling, and has a great personality. I love how we can sit back and talk about others as they do the same thing to us – haha! I hope we have more of those. I do want all of the “porter cousins” to be closer than they are now once we all have our families. I think family is important and being together is just as important. Courtney – thank you for being you. Thank you for helping me in matters that I needed help in and for always wanting to listen. You are an amazing person and I can’t wait to be your cousin . Love you!

Patty Mora: Bridesmaid: Friend: What a wonderful, good hearted person Patty is. If she was in pain or going thru something her self and see that you are hurting, she would drop what she’s doing to help you. That’s the kind of friend Patty is. She has a heart of gold and is an amazing friend. I just knew I would have a lot to say about her, but then when I got to it, that first sentence says it all - -haha, how things turn out :). Patty – thank you for being you and never changing. You are a wonderful mother and friend. Anyone who has you in their life is truly blessed. Never stop being you and thank you!!! Love you!

Tory Porter: Bridesmaid: Brant’s cousin: Some people might think it’s weird I have 3 of Brant’s cousins as my BM’s…do I care? No. The reason is b/c 1. I can’t just choose one, because I love them all the same. 2. I’m close to each and every one of them in our own ways, so I wanted them all as my attendants. Nothing wrong with it! Just thought I would put that in there ;). Tory is probably a little closer to Brant more than the others – why is that? I’m really not sure being she’s the youngest of the 3, but they just connect. Tory has a, what’s the word, High Spirit Personality. She’s always smiling, always perky; however, she is very fashionable and the others let her know :). Tory is a great person with a great heart. Tory – thank you for your endless talks with me and support! You are a great person and I’m looking forward to being your cousin-in-law ;). Love you!

Ok, that’s a lot of writing in one day for me. I will have to acknowledge Brant’s attendants and the House Party later today! :).

Brant and I are looking forward to November 3rd. I know I am very lucky to have these 8 ladies as my wedding party. They are all unique and amazing in their own ways. I know if I needed something, even just a simple talk everyone of them would be there for me! You ladies are amazing and I want to thank you again for being apart of this with us! Thank you in advance for putting up with me ;)…I seriously don’t think I’ll be that bad!

Have a fantastic week.
COURTNEY/STEPHANIE: BIG BROTHER TONIGHT. I’m super excited y’all watch that! Hehe!

LOVE YOU,
Jae

I have always had a passion for photography and design, and I am finally going to have the opportunity to pursue my passion full force, but part time for now. When I have a camera in my hand, it brings great pleasure to me knowing I am capturing someone's best moment(s), and have them really appreciate my work. I Love designing cards, logos, monograms and everything in between. This all started when I was getting married last November. Now it's something I love to do daily! I hope I can continue telling your stories through photography and designing something for you!
